Description

Part 1, Folios 168-169. Letter dated at London from the Duke of York to the Prince of Orange lamenting the loss of so many Dutch men of war and merchant ships and their crews 'by stress of weather' [a severe storm off the coast of Holland]. The Duke reports the arrival of the St David man of war from Tangier bringing as many as she could of the inhabitants with another ship expected. Lord Dartmouth together with the garrison is not expected until the middle of December as the destruction of the mole and town will take some time 'to do it as it ought to be done'.
