Part 1, Folios 144-145. Letter dated at London from the Duke of York to the Prince of Orange. The Duke believes that the Prince will have nothing to do with such a man as Lord Shaftesbury 'so very great an enemy to all our family in general as well as is a particular one to me' and does not doubt that Shaftesbury will do his part to do what harm he can to the family. Lord Chief Justice North is thought the most likely successor to the Lord Chancellor [Heneage Finch, Earl of Nottingham].
