'.....I am glad to hear that your resolutions have been so vigourous, we shall stand by you for the restoration of the towns in Flanders and Maastricht, and are getting ready five battaliions of foot to send to Bruges and Newport [Nieuwport] which I hope will have a good effect all ways, they will be of eight companies each'.
