Part 1, Folios 74-75. Letter dated at London from the Duke of York to the Prince of Orange that even though they have been ready for sometime it is not possible to send more troops to Flanders because of the lack of money. It is with much difficulty that enough money has been found to send one regiment of foot, four troops of horse and three of dragoons 'into the North' because of apprehensions of some disorders [by the Covenanters] in Scotland. He says it is not the King's fault but the Commons that things have not gone as they should.
