Part 1, Folios 51-52. Letter dated at London from the Duke of York to the Prince of Orange informing him that things are no better in England since Godolphin went to the Prince. The King will give his assent to the Poll bill tomorrow but it will not raise sufficient money to maintain not only the existing men and ships but also those to be in pay. There is one money bill in hand' for taxing the new building' and it is uncertain whether it will pass the Commons because so many of the members are concerned in it. The Duke writes 'truly the temper of the House seems not to be good and looks as if some of them minded more how to get the power from the King than anything else'. The levies are going well and the horse will be the first ready.
