Description

Folios 227-228: Cooke and Halford [navy agents] London. Writing on behalf of William G Rutherford, officers and crew of HMS Decade, who, while blockading the port of Havre in October 1803, detained a Russian ship, the Gorge, but later proceedings in the High Court resulted in the ship being restored and the reimbursement of captor's expenses to Government; the case was appealed which confirmed the original sentence, but in defending the appeal a bill has been incurred, a sum which the claimants now entreat the Admiralty should order to be repaid.
