Prisoner name: Jacob Friedburgh (or Jacob Friedeberg), aged 26, furrier, a Russian.
Court and Date of Trial: Central Criminal Court, January 1848.
Crime: Forgery of Russian notes, together with three others.
Initial sentence: 10 years transportation.
Gaoler's Report: Character not known.
Outcome: Nil.
Petitions and letters: Two petitions from the prisoner in Portland gaol, pleading led astray by others, dependent family in Russia, good conduct in prison, received severer punishment than accomplices and that sentence be reduced to seven years and he not be transported to the colonies.
