Crime: Forgery of Russian notes, together with three others.
Initial sentence: 10 years transportation.

Petitions and letters: Two petitions from the prisoner in Portland gaol, pleading led astray by others, dependent family in Russia, good conduct in prison, received severer punishment than accomplices and that sentence be reduced to seven years and he not be transported to the colonies.
