Captured ship: Hopewell of Great Yarmouth (master Jan Spinter; prize master John Hendrickson of Rossom, otherwise Jan Heindrickse, Jan Hendericksen).
History: an English fishing vessel, bound from Iceland to [Yarmouth], laden with fish; taken about 2-3 pm on 15/25 September 1672, about 7 leagues off Aberdeen by the Dutch privateer Brak [Beagle] of Flushing, otherwise Bracke (John Spaniard commanding, otherwise Jan Jansen Spanjaert), then sent in for Rotterdam or Flushing; retaken about 5-6 pm on 16/26 September 1672 off the Staples [Farne Islands], Northumberland, by the privateer Laurel [otherwise Royal Ellen] (William Piper commanding) and brought into Tynemouth on 17/27 September.
