Captured ship: Golden Calf of Serdam/Surdam [Zaandam], otherwise Gulden Calf (master Pieter Symonsz Kalff of Zaandam, otherwise Peter Simonson Calfe).
History: a Dutch merchant ship (120-150 lasts, 10 guns, 20 men, built at Zaandam), bound from Amsterdam to Lisbon, laden with pipe staves, oak planks, keel timbers, anchors and cordage; taken in fight on 22 December 1672/1 January 1673 in 45°N to 47°N by HMS Plymouth (Richard Neare commanding) and brought into Portsmouth.
