Folios 663-664: Benjamin Carter, Regulating Captain, Liverpool. Response to a request to state the case of four impressed men. Andrew Mowatt, [Andrew Mouat] aged 19, was impressed by Lieutenant Henry Freeman Young Pogson on 19 November 1809. Lawrence Robinson, alias Lowndis Robinson, [Lawrence Robertson] aged 19, was impressed the same time as was Robert Holecroft [Robert Halorou]. All were born in the Shetland Islands and all said they were Apprentices, but no Indentures were produced. All were brought up to fish since their infancy. William Perry, aged 24, was impressed by Lieutenant Henry Freeman Young Pogson on 24 November 1809. He said he was born in Flint, served his time in Chester and that he belonged to the Duke of Richmond Packet and that he had been at sea ten years. James Hay, aged 24, was imprest by Lieutenant Clarke on 23 November 1809. He was born in Waterford and acknowledged he had been brought up to the sea. Patrick Clark, aged 26, was imprest by Lieutenant Evans on 22 November 1809. Born in Ireland, he was imprest by Captain Horton in December 1808 but was permitted to return home due to the improper conduct of his father then Master of the Auspicious. He offered two Landsmen in replacement, but only one, James Rushton started on 12 January 1809. He considered this a breach of promise and so detained him.
Folios 665-666: enclosure with folios 663-664. W Fournely, Liverpool to the Admiralty, 23 November 1809. As Agent acting for Captain Patrick Clark of the brig Martha of Newry, who was detained by the impress service, provides the Register showing he is Master of this Brig. Understands that eleven months previously he was impressed and failed to provide one of the two substitutes agreed. Asks that he be discharged and the other substitute will be found.
Folios 667-668: enclosure with folios 663-664. John Molyneux, Liverpool to the Admiralty, Liverpool, 25 November 1809. Provides the Indenture for the Apprentice Andrew Mouat [Andrew Mowatt], Lawrence Robertson [Lawrence Robinson] and Robert Halorou, [Robert Holecroft], who were impressed on 20 November 1809. They are now on board HMS Princess. Requests their discharge as the vessel is detained waiting for their return.
Folios 669-670: enclosure with folios 663-664. Mary Rowlands, for Thomas Perry, Liverpool to the Admiralty, 25 November 1809. Petition for the discharge of his brother William Perry, who was impressed on 24 November 1809. His father is in a French prison and their Mother has four children to keep and is without any support. Friends are willing to offer substitutes in his place.
Folios 671-672: enclosure with folios 663-664. George W Hall, Milk House Yard, Liverpool to the Admiralty, 25 November 1809. Request on behalf of Margaret Hays, for the discharge of her son James Hays, who was impressed and is onboard HMS Princess. She will be left destitute without his support.
