Folios 151-154. A letter from governor Sir Robert Holmes to Lord Sunderland, dated at the Isle of Wight, concerning the readiness of the Dutch fleet to invade England. The ships upon which the Dutch horse were embarked at Rotterdam have 'fallen down' to the Brill [?Brielle, Netherlands], and expected soon to make the coast of England. Other locations mentioned, where the foot are embarking, are: Texell [island], Gory and Helford sluce [sluice]. English ships are being hired. Mentions militiamen at Yarmouth [Isle of Wight] and Hurst [?Castle, Hampshire], and requests repairs of value £500. Enclosing: Folio 153-154. A letter from Major Thomas Knight, dated at Newport [Isle of Wight], reporting the information of Wm [William] Townley of 'east Cowfe' [East Cowes, Isle of Wight] who landed at Bonechurch [Bonchurch, Isle of Wight] from Rotterdam [Netherlands]. Townley is married to on Anderton's daughter.
