Copy of an order, dated at Whitehall, dismissing all mayors, sheriffs, and all other civic officers appointed since 1679, except in the cases of those cities and towns whose deeds of surrender are enrolled, as per proclamation, or where judgements have been made in quo warranto. Signed by Sunderland. An archival endorsement states that the copy is in the hand of Mr [Robert] Lemon [chief clerk of the record office at the Tower of London].
