Folios 140-141. A letter from the Duke of Newcastle, dated at York [Yorkshire] acknowledging his commission as colonel [of the Yorkshire militia], and for nine captaincy commissions, one of which is for Captain Wallis. He has chosen two more captains: the Duke's cousin, Henry Ogle, of Eglingham [Northumberland]; and Mr Tempest of Thornely [Thornley, Durham], who is a [Roman] Catholic. Mr Foster of Banbrough [?Barnburgh, Yorkshire] refused a company.
