The functions of the Market Information Committee were:
to help identify industry needs and benefits; to help develop the Council's strategies for collecting and disseminating statistics and market information, and for improving market knowledge; to ensure that the most appropriate collection methods are used; to ensure statistical validity and relevance; to communicate aims and objectives to the relevant staff teams; to secure effective integration with the industry.Its membership consisted of four Council members including the Chair (as an ex officio member) and ten members nominated by industry.
