Folios 157-158: Commander Samuel Colquitt, HMS Princess, Rivery Mersey, Liverpool. Acknowledges the letter enclosing one from Ellen Williams seeking the release of her husband Robert Williams. Williams is about 35 years old, in rated an Ordinary Seaman and has been on the ship's books for 20 month. His conduct has been good. Returns the enclosure.
Folios 159-160: enclosed with folios 157-158. Letter dated 18 April 1809 from Ellen Williams, 28 Preston Street, Liverpool, to the Admiralty . Asks to be allowed to find a substitute to serve in place of her husband Robert Williams, an Ordinary Seaman belonging to HMS Princess, Commander Samuel Colquitt, now in the River [Mersey]. Williams holds a lease on a house in the town, which she is now unable to pay and she needs his support.
