Folios 102-103. A letter from [Sir] R [Roger] Bradshaigh to Colonel [Robert] Wenden at James's House, London. Lord Charles Murray and Lord Ancram have been elected for Wigan [Lancashire]. Lord Charles has departed for London with Lord Derby, via Lord Colchester's house, near Manchester [Lancashire]. There is a danger of rebellion in Lancashire, as an enclosure from Sir Richard Standish [not filed here] shows. Lord Brandon's 'factious' influence encourages the rabble and, in turn, Justice Cole, who is a 'great rogue', encourages Lord Brandon. 'Honest' Mr Carus, whose Lady is a 'Papist' [Roman Catholic], has been kept out of the Commission for the Peace by Sir Robert Carr. Encloses a letter from his brother Preston [which is not filed here].
