Folios 157-159. Folio 157. The Mayor, Bailiffs and Commonalty of Exeter to the King. Petition for grant of a new charter in place of that granted by King Charles ll and which they are surrendering; the appointment of a High Steward and Recorder in place of the Duke of Albemarle; a dispensation to the petitioners and their successors from taking all oaths and tests save such as are usual for the due execution of their offices; and liberty to the Mayor to hold a Court of Equity for hearing causes under the value of £5 with such powers, fees and perquisites as are enjoyed in the Mayor's Court of the City of London. At the side. Reference to the Attorney or Solicitor-General. Signed by Lord Sunderland. Folios 158-159. Heads of the new charter of Exeter submitted to the King by Sir Thomas Powys, Attorney-General and which he considers may be 'fit and proper'.
