Folios 570-571: John Culverhouse, Regulating Captain, Liverpool. Reports that Nicholas Reid was impressed because he had no documents to prove that he was mate of the Westmoreland, and Thomas Sharp was received from the Isle of Man in the Friendship tender on 8 December. Returns their documents.
Folios 572-573: enclosed with folios 570-571. Undated letter from John Parr, Liverpool, to the Admiralty. Reports that Nicholas Read, mate of the Westmoreland of Liverpool, has been impressed and sent aboard HMS Princess. He applied to Captain John Culverhouse and was told Read could not be released without an order from the Admiralty. Encloses an affidavit of Read's circumstances and states that he chose the man specifically for a trading voyage to the coast of Africa. Asks for his discharge.
Folio 574. Attached to Folio 573. Affidavit sworn by John Parr before John Gregson, Justice of the Peace, dated 8 December 1804. Swears that the Westmoreland of Liverpool, which he owns, has been registered at Custom House for a voyage to Africa and that Nicholas Read was appointed as her mate a month earlier, but is now prevented from sailing in her because he has been impressed.
