Description

Folios 229-230: Anthony Jacques, writing on behalf of John Culverhouse, Regulating Captain, Liverpool. Replies to the letter of 31 March 1804 regarding apprentices John Aitcheson and Parick McCabe who were impressed at the rendezvous. Aitcheson is a Scotsman, aged 19, who produced an indenture made out at Liverpool in June 1803. McCabe is 20 and produced an indenture which had not been stamped. He returns the enclosed documents.

Folios 231-232: enclosed with folios 229-230. An affadavit sworn by Kenneth Wright, Master of the sloop Sidney, before Justice Pudsey Dawson at Liverpool on 27 March 1804. John Aitcheson, who is apprenticed to the sloop's owners, was impressed from aboard ship on 26 March and sent aboard HMS Princess. Aitcheson is bound by the enclosed indenture [no longer present] for a term of 10 years from 7 June 1803. Asks for his release. Aitcheson had never been to sea before, except to journey from Annan to Liverpool to get his indenture stamped.

Folio 223: enclosed with folios 229-230. Affidavit sworn by John Fitzgerald, master of the galliot Friendship of Wicklow, before Justice Pudsey at Liverpool on 29 March 1804. Patrick McCabe was bound to him as an apprentice for three years in June 1803, but had never been to sea beforer that date.

Folio 224: enclosed with folios 229-230. Letter from John Fitzgerald, Liverpool, to the Admiralty dated 29 March 1804. Encloses his affadavit and [no longer enclosed] the indenture of his apprentice Patrick McCabe, who was impressed from aboard his vessel. Asks for his release.
