Folio 487: Charles Augustus Baumgardt, HMS Princess, Liverpool. He has discharged John Matthews following request by John Nodin.
Folios 488-489: enclosure with folio 487. Letter dated 18 September 1804 by John Nodin, Water Lane, Tower Street. Request for John Matthews, apprentice to Mr Henry Hayston, to be discharge. He was impressed while travelling from Belfast to Workington in Cumbria.
Folios 490-492: enclosure with folio 487. Letter dated 18 September 1804 by John Nodin, London. He presented for Henry Hayston of Workington, a merchant and ship owner, 8 September an application for the discharge of John Matthews, impressed at Liverpool . It has been induced that as Matthews has been to sea before his indenture, that he cannot be discharged. But this was only to travel from Belfast to Workington
