Folios 276-277: James Colnett, HMS Glatton, Leith. Acknowledging teceipt of letter approving his proposals for the protection of the trade from Long Hope Sound to the Baltic and the order to hasten the Leith armed brig. He reports that the merchants have applied to the Lord Provost of Edinburgh to request me to appint a convoy for the River Ems by 15 May, nearly a fortnight earlier that the time fixed in his orders for sending a convoy to Tonningen. The Magdalene hired armed ship will be ready by 15thto proceed to the Baltic. The Hebe will also be ready for convoy service then as hopefully the Hebe, there is no revenue vessel here at present to attach to the Baltic convoy. He has also discovered the man of the name Powell or Pothill late of HMS Eryalus is in fact Paul and rated gunners mate and he can send him to the Nore if ordered.
