Folios 245-246: William Charleton, Regulating Captain, South Shields. Response to a request to state the case of Thomas Taylor, who was impressed at Shields on 14 July 1804 and whose discharge has been applied for by William Harrison. He was impressed following his return from the Sessions at Hexham, where he had been prosecuted for ill-treatment of his wife. Encloses William Harrison's letter and questions its contents as he doesn't believe that his circumstances are not such that would allow him to build ships and he did not see documentary evidence of this ability. as he had been unemployed for sometime and a seaman he considered him fit for service.
Folios 247-248: enclosure with folios 245-246. Letter dated 17 July 1804 by William Harrison, Dockwray Square, North Shields. States that Thomas Taylor was Master of a ship belonging to him called the William of Francis for two years before becoming Master of the Fidelity and then Master of a vessel belonging to London. About six weeks ago he engaged with George Harrison, a ship builder at Whitehill Point to take a quarter part of a vessel being built and to be Master of her. Requests his discharge.
