Folios 225-226: William Charleton, Regulating Captain, North Shields. Response to a request to state the case of John Dowley, who was impressed on 23 June 1804 at Shields and whose discharge has been applied for by Lionel Self. He was ceased as the Protection was granted for eight sailors and nine were on board.
Folios 227-228: enclosure with folios 225-226. Petition dated 27 June 1804 by Lionel Self, Kings Lynn, Norfolk, for the discharge of John Dowley, who was impressed on 23 June 1804 at Shields. As ship owner of the Brig John, Robert Oakes being the Master, he applied to the regulating Captain to discharge him as he had a ships Protection dated 22 May 1803 but was refused.
