Folios 171-172: William Charleton, Regulating Captain, North Shields. Response to a request to state the case of three impressed men, riggers, whose discharge has been applied for by Mr Burdon. They were impressed in North Shields Harbour on 14 May having obtained their protection under a fraudulent pretext. States that the Admiralty had seen the protection certificate and approved their detention. They had been sent to the Nore on HMS Lyra on 25 May 1804.
Folios 173-174: enclosure with folios 171-172. Letter dated 28 May 1804 by R Burden, Castle Eden to the Admiralty. Encloses a petition requesting the discharge of three riggers who were recently impressed. Expresses the importance of Benjamin Dodds, the Master Rigger being discharged.
Folio 175: enclosure with folios 171-172. Petition dated May 1804 by R Burdon, Sunderland, requesting the release of Benjamin Dodds, George Parkinson and Henry Watson, Riggers in Sunderland and Newcastle, who were impressed on 14 May 1804 in the port of Sunderland. States that they have been granted three months protection from 8 May 1804 by the Admiralty in war time. The petition is also signed by 76 riggers employed at the ports of Sunderland and Newcastle
