Description

Folios 85-86: William Charleton, Regulating Captain, North Shields, 28 April 1804. Response to a request to state the case of Thomas Page, who was impressed at Sutherland on 3 April 1804. He had no protection documentation and suspects he had been at sea previously. Encloses an indenture which he thinks may be fraudulent and a .

Folio 87: enclosure with folios 85-86. Thomas Thwaites, Hastings, 23 April 1804. Affidavit before Richard Ball, signed by Thomas Thwaites the Younger, owner of the brig the Russell stating Thomas Page, apprentice by Indenture, was impressed on 1 or 2 April 1804 at Sunderland and has been sent to the Great Nore on HMS Ceres against his will. Adds that before his indenture he had not been at sea but worked solely on the land.

Folio 88: enclosure with folios 85-86. John Carey, Hastings, 23 April 1804. Affidavit before Edward Milward, Mayor. stating that he witnessed the indenture for Thomas Page, Apprentice, along with George Wenham.

Folio 89: enclosure with folios 85-86. Thomas Thwaites Junior, Hastings, 23 April 1804. Petition requesting the discharge of an apprentice and the return on an indenture. The name of the apprentice is erased and the document is not signed.
