Description

Folios 436-437: William Charleton, Regulating Officer, North Shields. John White was impressed at Sunderland on November 26th 1803, having come to Sunderland on one vessel and was going to London on another. His ticket may not be genuine but Captain Irwin has asked for his release.

Folio 438: enclosure with folios 436-437. Ticket for John White, with description, up to November 20th from the Rendezvous Ramsgate.

Folio 439-440: enclosure with folios 436-437. Letter dated 10 February 1804 by George Irwin, Regulating Officer, Deal. Is sending a letter from Samuel Leavy, Impress Service Ramsgate, who states that John White was impressed even though he had a ticket of leave and was employed as a ticket man, to the distress of his wife and eight small children. He asks that Admiral Russell release him.

Folio 441: enclosure with folios 439-440: Petetion dated 8 February 1804 by Elizabeth White of Ramsgate, wife of John White with eight children, the eldest being lame and the youngest ten days old. John White is a ticket man who was sent to Sunderland where he was impressed. She pleads for his release.

Folio 442: enclosure with folios 439-440. Letter dated 9 February 1804 by Samuel Leavy, Rendevous Ramsgate. Is sending on the affadavit from Elizabeth White with a plea that John White is released. He is a ticket man as can be proved by referring to Mr Lawrence at Deal.
