Folios 236-237: John Henry Cartier, [?] Hotel. Has received an order for contempt of court at the Court of the Exchequer for not appearing to answer the charges of Marks and Hodges, the Master and owner of the Dove, yawl. He asks for help of the Naval Solicitor so he can avoid utter ruin for having acted in complete compliance with his orders. He did not attend the original court hearing because it was served at such short notice that he had not had time to get leave of absence from the Navy to attend.
