Folios 179- 180: John Henry Cartier, HMS Brodenscarp, Shellness, Faversham. Rear Admiral Rowley has asked why apprentices William Shakeshaps Banks and Richard Portman were impressed. He detained them until the decision of the customs was known but Portman had served three years at sea and was over 18 so he was pressed. Their vessel, the Two Brothers is awaiting the decision of the Custom Court.
Folios 181-182: enclosure with folios 179-180. Letter dated 30 May 1804 by J. Larbie, Chatham. Two Sea Fencibles from Queenborough, have been taken by HMS Brodenscarp although Captain Mortimer showed Captain Cartier their certificates.
Folios 183-185: enclosure with folios 179-180. protection certificates with physical descriptions for Richard Courtman and William Banks.
Folios 186-187: enclosure with folios 179-180. Letter dated 3 June 1804 by John Henry Cartier, HMS Brodenscarp, Sheerness. Justifies why he insisted that the local boats fly the right pendants following complaints by Thomas Hodges and William Mantle of the Dove yawl fishermen of Queensborough who had their boats impounded by the Customs. He copies a summons to him sent by Blyth Parsons, Chilton Clerk in Court.
