Administrative / biographical background
(Historical or biographical information about the creator of the record and the context of its creation)

GreenSpace, previously known as the Urban Parks Forum, was formed in 1999 as a voluntary organisation. The catalyst for its creation was the establishment of Lottery funding for historic urban parks through the Heritage Lottery Fund's Urban Parks Programme. In June 2003, with the support of its membership, the Urban Parks Forum was officially relaunched as GreenSpace.
GreenSpace aims to be the UK?s leading advocate for the economic, social and environmental benefits of better planned, designed and managed parks, gardens and green spaces and for their positive contribution to our economic, physical and spiritual health, to social cohesion and to biodiversity.
