Folios 35-38. A letter from John Robinson to Sir Stanier Porten, concerning goods being shipped under contract from Ireland, and seemingly destined for the French West Indies, with enclosures for the Earl of Hillsborough. Folio 36. Copy of George Clerk Maxwell, Basil Cochrane and Adam Smith, dated at Customs House, Edinburgh on 21 March 1780. Folio 37-38. Copy of Robert Whyte and Philip Paton, dated at Customs House, Kirkcaldy [Fife]. From 18 to 20 ships laden with Irish beef, supposedly destined for St Eustatia [Sint Eustace, Dutch West Indies], have passed through Campfeer [Veere, Netherlands]. The intelligence comes from James Normand, shipmaster in Dysart [Fife], who has previously provided information on the rebellious [American] colonies.
