Description

Captured ship: Fortune of Revall (Tallinn) (master Barent Freboy) [third capture].

History: a Swedish ship, bound from St Martin via Le Havre to Revall, laden with salt, brandy and glasses; taken on 17/27 May 1696 not far from St Martin by one or more unnamed English naval ships and brought into Dartmouth.

Court Papers:

  • [CP 1-CP 2]: two claims to the ship and cargo on behalf of merchants in Revall;
  • [CP 3]: attestation that the ship is leaking;
  • [CP 4-CP 16]: two certificates, allegation, two sets of interrogatories, six examinations taken at Dartmouth, allegation, commission, wrapper;
  • [CP 17]: attestation sent in from Revall;
  • [CP 18]: docket, still attached to the ship's papers [most of these papers were probably restored].

Ship’s Paper numbered SP 17, bill of lading.
