Description

Captured ship: Fortune of Revall (Tallinn) (master Barent Froboy) [second capture].

History: a Swedish ship, bound from Bordeaux to Tallinn, laden with wine; taken on 24 April / 3 May 1695 off Het Hogeland by the fireship HMS St Paul (John Michell commanding), and brought into the River Thames.

Court Papers:

  • [CP 1-CP 2]: two attestations as to the perishing nature of the cargo of wine;
  • [CP 3]: claim to the ship and cargo on behalf of merchants in Stockholm;
  • [CP 4-CP 7]: attestation, claim, appeal, inhibition;
  • [CP 8-CP 9]: attestation as to papers, abstracts and translations of the four bundles of ship's papers;
  • [CP 10-CP 13]: four dockets, still attached to the ship's papers.

Ships Papers, numbered in four bundles [many of the numbered papers are not here, possibly restored]

  • SP 1/11: bill of lading;
  • SP 2/4-SP 2/5: two bills of lading;
  • SP 3/12-SP 3/13: two customs papers;
  • SP 4/1-SP 4/10: customs papers, receipts, notes, letter, cocket.
