Folios 175-176. A letter from John Robinson to Sir Stanier Porten. Enclosing: Folio 176. Extract of a letter from a merchant in Hull [Yorkshire]. 'Monsier de Mistral commissaire Ordinaire of Normandy summoned all the merchants of [Le] Havre de Grace [France] to appear before him [29 August 1777]. The merchants did appear and were commanded not to make any preparations arming their vessels either for America or the Coast of Guinea [West Africa] as he will have no sailors to spare and having need of all the seamen he can get to send to Brest'.
