Folios 185-187. Folios 185-186. Letter from John Robinson to A [Anthony] Chamier that he has written to the Customs about the two pieces of cannon belonging to two foreigners at a cabinet maker's in Bridge Street Westminster but that as such orders as the Treasury can give will be very ineffectual the matter more properly lies with Chamier's office. He suggests a search either under Lord Weymouth's warrant or by directions to Sir John Fielding. With the letter is enclosed intelligence which 'our correspondent says requires attention'. Robinson has written to the Customs in regard to what is mentioned of the correspondence carried on from Winchelsea, Brighthemstone [Brighton] and Shoreham 'and must submit the other parts of it to' Chamier's care:- Folio 187. Intelligence giving the names of Mr Fagan 'a very suspicious character'; Winthuysen a stock broker; ?Baley a stock broker and Newton a Madeira merchant. Other names mentioned are French, Weld and De la Chevre.
