Letter dated at Treasury Chambers from Grey Cooper to Sir Stanier Porten requesting that Lord Weymouth 'take his Majesty's pleasure for enabling the Commissioners of Excise to promise his pardon' in accordance with their request. Folio 186. Copy letter dated at the Excise Office, London from the Commissioners of Excise to the Treasury Commissioners enclosing copies of a letter and enclosure from William Birdsworth, Collector at Lynn [King's Lynn, Norfolk] regarding an anonymous threat to murder William Dyer their supervisor at Diss, Norfolk. The Commissioners propose to advertise a reward to any person or persons, except the person who actually wrote the letter, who discloses his or their accomplice and ask that the Commissioners obtain the King's promise of a pardon to that person or persons. Folio 187. Letter dated at Lynn from William Birdsworth to the Commissioners of Excise enclosing: Folio 188. Copy of the anonymous letter left at Dyer's lodgings on the night of 23 October.
