Note from the Recorder of London to Lord Hillsborough enclosing 'a list of the unfortunate convicts to be reported to his Majesty tomorrow' [not filed here] and also enclosing 'the applications that have been made to him on their behalf; as nothing in such a case should be suppressed'. Folios 159-159A. Petition of James Jackson to the King praying for mercy having been capitally convicted of riotously assembling with others in the demolishing of Newgate. The petition is signed in support by Benjamin Symonds Vicar of Sheldwich in Kent and Lecturer of St John's Clerkenwell, Joseph Faikney and Richard Palmer churchwardens of St John's, Hugh Dixon and John Aris churchwardens of St James Clerkenwell, Benjamin Lyon and Charles Oldroyd surgeons. Folio 160. Petition of John Burgess to Lord Stormont to intercede with the King having been capitally convicted for riotous assembly with others in destroying the furniture of Mr Lynch in Golden Lane. The petition is recommended by George Weston of St Luke's Middlesex, Robert French one of the Common Council, W Cassidy and John Cassidy both of Golden Lane. Folio 161. Petition of Mary Siddal to the King praying for mercy for her son Jonathan Stacey under sentence of death in Newgate. Folio 162. Petition of the Governors and Guardians of the Foundling Hospital to the King on behalf of Theophilus Brown capitally convicted of riotous assembly but recommended for mercy by the jury in which recommendation the petitioners join. The petition contains a resumé of Brown's life. Folio 163. Petition of Samuel Solomons to the King for mercy having been capitally convicted at 'the prosecution of one Connor charged with being at his house in Black Lyon Yard Whitechapel on the stair case with a lighted candle in one hand and a bludgeon in the other hand and seizing him by the collar with another hand'.
