Affidavit of Joseph Bratt ironmonger, Nehemiah Ward whip-maker, Elisha Jebb sadler, John Purvis sadler, Thomas Angell currier, Faithfull Tate carpenter and his son John Tate, and Charles Lockwood bricklayer concerning the character of William Elliott [principal witness against Richard Roberts] whom they describe as 'a turbulent man, obnoxious to the neighbourhood and shunned as a dangerous companion by all reputable neighbours'. They 'have no opinion of his veracity in small matters; that in cases of life and death they consider him absolutely unworthy of credit'. Folio 153. Further petition from Mary Sweet enclosing the preceding item. Endorsed 'Left 8 July 1780 at the Office'.
