Folio 150. Petition of William Brown to the King praying for mercy having been capitally convicted of riot at the Mr Deacon's house in Bishopsgate. The petitioner draws attention to his wounding on HMS Serapis in the action against [John] Paul Jones's [American Continental Navy] Squadron and the fact that his father has been in [?the Navy] since infancy. With a recommendation signed by Samuel Wincote, Samuel Reynolds, Jeremiah Mangaar, Thos [Thomas] Paty, Francis Willcox, John Dearns, William Price and James LeSall.
