Folios 77-78. Letter dated at Northumberland Head, Worship Street [London] from D [David] Wilmot to [?Anthony Chamier or Sir Stanier Porten] that the principal inhabitants of St Leonard Shoreditch, St Matthew Bethnal Green and Christchurch Spitalfields have offered to patrol the streets in their respective parishes at night in order to assist the peace officers on condition that they are permitted to carry arms for their protection. Wilmot has given orders for the streets to be patrolled by the peace officers with the gentlemen of the three parishes and undertaken to 'make the officers some recompense', which he hopes will meet with approval, meaning that they may arrest as many as were arrested last night and fully committed for trial.
