Folios 63-65. A letter from M Rowe to Richard Sutton, dated at Treasury Chambers [Whitehall, Middlesex], concerning the seizure of the 'Young Jacob' from Amsterdam by [customs] officers from Falmouth [Cornwall]. Enclosing: Folio 64. Report of the Customs Commissioners, dated at Customs House, London, advising of their intention to restore the vessel and its cargo, after representations by [the Dutch ambassador] Count [Comte de] Welderen. She was bound for Lisbon [Portugal] via Cowes [Isle of Wight], where she came under suspicion of illegal trading. At Falmouth she was searched by Mr Sharp, a customs officer, who discovered hogsheads of Geneva [gin] aboard. Also mentions: the cargo of tin, loaded by the merchant Mr Daniels; captains John Dickenson and Anthony Todd of the packet boats the 'Duke of York' and 'Hanover'; and an affidavit signed by Master Robert Woolcock and George Reynolds, and due to be signed by John Warren and William Pearse.
