A letter from Cha [Charles] Lowndes to Will [William] Burke, dated at Treasury Chambers [Whitehall, Middlesex] concerning the importation of wine from the Canary Islands to America and British colonies. Enclosing: Folio 39-40. Report of Customs Commissioners, dated at Customs House London on 13 May 1766. Concerns a request by Spanish and English merchants of London that duty be paid at the same rate of duty as Azores and Madeira wine. Encloses a translation [not filed here] of a memorial from the Spanish Ambassador. Signed by: W Musgrave; Sl [Samuel] Mead; Edward Hooper; and H Pelham.
