Folios 34-37. A letter from Grey Cooper to William Burke, dated at Treasury Chambers [Whitehall, Middlesex] concerning the fraudulent importation of iron. Enclosing: Folio 35-37. Report of the Customs Commissioners on a complaint brought by [Samuel] Garbett of the Carron iron works [Falkirk, Stirlingshire] about imports from Sweden to Scotland. Wrought iron is being imported as unwrought iron, at a lower rate of duty. Also refers to iron imported to Whitby [Yorkshire] by Messrs Lindegreen and Company.
