A letter from Cha [Charles] Lowndes, dated at Treasury Chambers [Whitehall, Middlesex] concerning the seizure of the ship 'Notre Dame' by customers officials, and the Spanish ambassador's complaint. Enclosing: Folio 23-24. Report of the Customs Commissioners, recommending leniency for breaching brandy importing regulations on account of the change in the law being so recent, but recommending satisfaction be made to the seizing officers.
