Folios 114-115. Anonymous and undated letter marked 'private' addressed to the Earl of Sandwich from a Protestant woman married to a Roman Catholic who she describes as 'a man much above the lower ranks of mankind but by his unbounded extravagance he is become so distressed that he is a modern Catiline in principle and was easily persuaded to fall into the insidious designs of the Court of France, in a word he is one of those unfeeling monsters who are hired to ruin this once happy country'. She details the plans for the destruction of the cities of London and Westminster by about 170 Roman Catholic men and also 'the grand scheme of ruining Admiral [Sir Francis] Geary's fleet' and asks that Sandwich 'send a purse of 500 guineas sealed up in a small shaving box directed for Michael Jones Esquire to be left at Batson's coffee house Cornhill'.
