Captured ship: Prudence of St Malo (master Gideon Allain).
History: a French fishing vessel (70 tons, 2 guns) bound from Newfoundland to St Malo or Granville, laden with bank fish; taken on 2/12 January 1696/7 off Île de Batz by HMS Burlington (William Carr commanding), and brought into Torbay.
