Captured ship: Providence of Rouen (master William or Guillaume Contua).
History: a French merchant ship (90 tons) bound from Bourgneuf to Dunkirk, laden with salt; taken on 22 February / 4 March 1690/1 off Guernsey by HMS Crown (Robert Wilmot commanding), and brought into Plymouth.
