Description

Captured ship: St Philippe or St Philip of Royan (master James or Jacques Drouet).

History: a French merchant ship (29 tons, 5 men) bound from Bordeaux, laden with wine; taken on 2/12 January 1693/4 by the privateer Ashby Frigott (Leonard Moucher commanding), and brought into Corunna (A Coruña, known as the Groyne).

Court Papers numbered CP 1-CP 5:

  • [CP 1-CP 4]: attestation with three exhibits, letters relating to the capture and an inventory;
  • [CP 5]: docket for the ship's papers.

Ship’s Papers numbered SP 1-SP 4, customs papers, ship's pass, muster roll.

[Decision: ship and cargo condemned, 14 February 1694].
