Captured ship: St Peter of Hamburg (master Christopher Gillery) [second capture].
History: a Hamburg merchant ship (80 or 90 tons) bound from Hamburg to Tenerife or Cadiz or Malaga, laden with pipestaves, ship's cloth, beeswax, wheat, beans, spinning wheels, painted boxes, and candles; seized in January 1693/4 in port at Margate by the privateer Success (Thomas Powell commanding), as the crew refused to sail for the Canaries, fearing capture by Maghrebi corsairs; the ship was subsequently brought into Dover.
