Description

Captured ship: St Peter of Stockholm (master Errick Byörk).

History: a Swedish merchant ship (200 tons) bound from Stockholm to La Rochelle, laden with vitriol, tar, deal board, and copper thread; taken on 17/27 July 1696 off Sark by HMS Lark (Charles Strickland commanding), and brought into Guernsey.

Documents:-

Court Papers numbered CP 1-CP 3a:

  • [CP 1]: four examinations;
  • [CP 2]: claim to the ship and cargo on behalf of merchants in Stockholm;
  • [CP 3-CP 3a]: attestation as to the ship being driven into Dunkirk by force of weather, with an annexed bill of lading.

[Decision: ship and cargo restored, 4 March 1697].
