Description

Captured ship: St Peter of Gothenburg (master Helge Borgenson).

History: a Swedish merchant ship (120 tons) bound from Gothenburg to La Rochelle, laden with deal boards, and spars; taken on 30 June/10 July 1694 off Beachy Head by HMS Elizabeth (Robert Wilmot commanding), and brought into the Downs.

Court Papers numbered CP 1-CP 3:

  • [CP 1]: two examinations;
  • [CP 2]: claim to the ship and cargo on behalf of merchants in Gothenburg;
  • [CP 3]: abstracts and translations of the 3 ship's papers [all these papers were restored].

[Decision: ship and cargo restored, 16 July 1694].
